Algae are produced when an aquarium is not well balanced. Causes of an unbalanced aquarium are the excessive feeding of fish, too many fish in an aquarium, excessive lighting or excessive fertilization. You also take them home when you purchase fish or plants!
AlgExit is a safe and effective product for combating almost all types of algae in a freshwater aquarium. Algae, such as beard algae, brush algae and filamentous algae, are effectively wiped out. It is easy and economical to use and harmless to fish, shrimps, molluscs and plants. The algae growth is first brought to a standstill and then it disappears. Any algae spores that are still present in the water are removed.
Use
This period may be extended if algae still remain or if spores continue to germinate.

Heard a lot of good reviews about Easy-Life products before, but this is the first time I used any of them. And it does what it claims! I had lot of green hair/ beard algae issue, which was all over my epiphytes and carpet and stagnating their growth. I am using it for 3 straight weeks now, almost all of it is gone now, apart from few of the epiphytes. But I can see significant sign of reduction there as well. The product description says minimum 4 weeks of usage for best result, hopefully after one week or two all of it will be wiped out. Also their customer support is excellent. They are based out of Netherlands and every time I dropped them an email for any of my queries related to the product, got a prompt response.
Please note that using any sort off chemical is not a permanent solution to your algae problem, you need to address its actual cause to stop it from coming back again. In my case it was too much of ambiance light along with low CO2 levels, which I have already addressed. Using chemical stops the algae bloom, and gives you time to adjust the parameters to their desired levels.
