PRODAC Filterlav is a natural lava stone granules for biological and mechanical filtration for fresh and marine water aquarium. Lava stone is a material which comes out at the earth’s surface from underground, it is highly porous and free of organic polluting substances subject to decomposition. The exceptional highly porous structure of this material allows optimal conditions where the nitrifying bacteria, such as nitrosomonas and nitrobacter, can colonize and keep the aquarium water crystal clear.

The quality of this lava rock is completely different from the ones you buy elsewhere. This feels more natural with pores while the others almost look like cheap concrete mix. Using it for my DIY filter of 50L capacity together with 500g pumice stone and 800g ceramic rings. Works well. A star less for the high price.
